Laura's Agent is: Drew McDowell (vocals and guitars) and Dawson Barrett (drums).

Laura's Agent is a two-piece band from Peoria, Illinois. We try not to classify ourselves into specific categories because we play many different styles of music. We originally considered ourselves a punk band, but our music has evolved a lot since then. We do have some punk songs, but some are heavier, and some are more mellow. Some of our songs contain a lot of screaming and loud, pounding music; others are more quiet and mysterious. We consider all of our songs to be beautiful, and it upsets us that some people are too narrow-minded to understand mellower songs. ALL of our songs and styles make up Laura's Agent.

We're a two piece band because we want to be. A lot of our songs are improvisational and would not work if we had another member. We make the sound full by using several guitar and bass amps. I also have a bass pick-up on my guitar.

The main elements of our music are passion, energy, and emotion. This also helps us achieve a full live sound. Emotion is a big part of our music because we have songs for every emotion. We don't play naive, corny songs about how great life is, but we also don't only play songs about how bad life is. We like to think our songs are more intelligent than that. I admit, some of our lyrics might not contain too much literal meaning, but music sometimes speaks louder than words.

Another reason why we play many different types of music is because we listen to all kinds of stuff. Some of the bands that we love are Nirvana, the Smashing Pumpkins, SDRE, and the Beatles. There are many other bands that we love and respect, but I won't make a list. The only element of these bands' music that we've consciously interpreted into ours is the sincerity.
